This was another “not so fun” lab for us. We followed the directions as they were written, and Brandi just predicted whether there would be a precipitate or not before I did the reaction. This method helped her to verbalize her thoughts, and she was able to work out the problems through discussion which was useful for her future tests. However, she didn’t get to participate in any hands-on activities.
If we had had more time and access to more solutions, we could have modified this lab by using approximately 5-10 mL of each reactant instead of using drops. After letting the reaction occur, we could have used the SALS to let Brandi confirm her predictions.
